Hands Off Our Schools

Premier Doug Ford and his Conservative Government are taking over Ontario School Boards. Rather than funding schools, they are shutting out communities.

There is a Hands Off Our Schools Education Town Hall meeting in Peterborough on Monday February 23^rd.

NDP Education critic MPP Chandra Pasma will be in attendance.

OCHU Rally Against Healthcare Funding Cuts

Join us tomorrow, Tuesday, February 17th, as we stand in solidarity with CUPE in a protest against the funding cuts to our public healthcare system initiated by Premier Doug Ford and his Conservative government.

If these funding cuts are not reversed immediately, over 9,000 nurses and personal support workers (PSWs) will lose their jobs, and hospitals will face a reduction of more than 2,400 staffed beds by 2027-2028.

Please plan to attend, and if possible, bring a friend. We cannot allow these cuts to our healthcare system to continue.

Northumberland Health Coalition Townhall

Join us on Sunday April 2, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Best Western Plus in Cobourg for a Northumberland Health Coalition rally (1 to 1:30 PM at the intersection of Burnham and Elgin), to be immediately followed by a Townhall meeting at the Best Western starting at 1:30 PM.

Join us as we plan for action to oppose further privatization of our healthcare. Natalie Mehra, Director of the Ontario Health Coalition, will be speaking as part of the panel at this event.

We are inviting everyone to come and show your support for public healthcare.

As our Public Healthcare system is in an unprecedented crisis, we need to mount a major fightback. We must do what it takes to get the Government of Ontario to reverse its privatization of our public healthcare system.

All Out Picket Support Public Nurses

Ontario’s hospital nurses and healthcare professionals, members of the Ontario Nurses’ Association (ONA) have begun contract negotiations with the Ontario Hospital Association.

Nurses are in need of safe staffing and better pay and working conditions to provide high-quality care. We risk losing more nurses to Doug Ford’s private surgical clinics and private nursing agencies without these necessary improvements.

Time to support our local nurses. Nurses will be rallying in front of Northumberland Hills Hospital on Thursday February 23 from 12 pm to 2 pm

Fight for the Living, Mourn for the Dead

On April 28 we gather to commemorate all workers killed or injured on the job at the annual Day of Mourning.

On this day, we remember and pay tribute to workers who die each year due to workplace causes. While we mourn the dead, we all must dedicate ourselves to the continued fight for the living.

CUPE MPP Rallies, Repeal Bill 124

By now I’m sure you have seen and heard Doug Ford making election style promises by announcing money for this and money for that. When it comes to health-care workers. Bill 124 has capped their wages at 1% since 2019. Join us as we join CUPE as they rally to Repeal Bill 124. Out front of MPP David Piccini’s office in Port Hope on Thursday March 17th starting at 2:00 pm.

Health Care Workers were there for us during the Pandemic- now it is time for us to be there for them.

So let’s show our respect and solidarity by joining with the Health-Care workers.
